The end is near! The end of this year that is, not the universe.
It’s also the end of my bank-account, after binge-buying Christmas gifts
and the end of my diet. Because you know, it’s
December and almost impossible to keep up
my sort of healthy lifestyle when food is everywhere and too
available. But most important, it’s the end of some very awesome (Netflix) shows or seasons and since
tomorrow is the last day of the year, make sure you have binge-watched the following shows.

And if you haven’t yet, tomorrow is your last chance. What better
way to end 2017, than with an awesome show, some popcorn
and tea, or wine if you’re like me and a comfy couch.
You have a whole day to finish a show from beginning to end, go for it!

Here’s my list of favorite shows:

1 Stranger Things
This Steven Spielberg and Stephen King (along with many others)
inspired sci-fi/horror show, oozes 80’s vibes and that’s one reason why
I love this piece of work, created by The Duffer Brothers.
As an 80’s baby, I fell in love with horror flicks when I was way too young for them and nothing has
changed. I still love movies from the 80’s, the art direction, suspense and bad camera shots.
Stranger Things has taken
everything good from the 80’s and mixed it up with an original
story, great plot twists and a super strong cast, mostly kids who are amazingly only around 13 year old. The story revolves around a group of ordinary kids, who are confronted with an extraordinary force of terror, when one friend goes missing. Stranger Things just wrapped up their 2nd season, so you’ve got
plenty of Stranger binge-watching to do.

2 New Girl
Someone told me that I should watch this show, as it was like Friends,
only funnier. As a huge Friends fan, (proud all 10 seasons box owner)
she immediately had my attention. But what show could ever be cooler than Friends? I can tell you, I was hooked from the moment I watched the first episode and saw Zooey Deschanel
playing the most awkward and hilarious character I’ve ever seen, period.
The rest of the cast is just as awesome and funny, every character
would even be strong enough to have their own spin-off. The show is not as much funnier than Friends, it’s different and fresh
and super funny in a different way. The show is about Jess, a clumsy, awkward
and chaotic schoolteacher, who moves in with 3 single guys, after breaking up
with her cheating boyfriend. Get ready for some seriously weird situations with a hint of romance.
New Girl has 7 seasons, so binge away!

3 Scream
If you’re a horrorflick fan like me, make sure to make time and sit down for Scream.
As the name already reveals, the show is based on the original 90’s cult horror feature
Scream, but has a different storyline and new cast. Like in the original movie,
there’s a masked serial killer on the loose
and he has his killer knife set on a
group of teens running around in a small town called Lakewood.
After the first bloody murder, the shocking incident brings back memories from a violent
and similar killing feast from the past. Is this forgotten ghost back
in town to strike again? Or has a new masked villain risen, inspired
by the old killings? The most important question is: who is it? Some scenes might be a little cliche and overdone, but that’s part of the magic of horrorflicks, right?
Either way, the plot twists are interesting enough to keep you hooked for 3 seasons.

4 Slasher

Yes, I just had to throw in another horror show,  because I think this genre
is highly underrated. I actually don’t know a lot of people who enjoy
horrormovies/shows, except my bf and my best friend. It’s mostly all I watch, horrors,
thrillers and chickflicks, I like balance in my life you know. Anyhoo,
Slasher is similar to Scream, genre and storyline wise,
but different in execution. The cast, atmosphere and shots are more mature and
the seasons have a different cast and story every time to keep you interested. The first season is again loosely based on, it’s definitely a slasher classic, Scream. When a young woman
returns to her hometown and moves back into the house where
she was born and her parents were brutally murdered, all hell and a masked killer break loose.
The 2nd season is inspired by another 90’s cult classic, I know what you did last summer. A group of friends return to a summer camp, where they killed a fellow camp counselor 5 years earlier. Was it an accident or in cold blood?
The suspense will hold your attention. Watch(ed) out… Season 3 is coming.

There you have it, the shows I’ve been watching this year. I’ve deliberately chosen
2 shows which have been on the down low, because underdogs need love
(and watching) too. I always hear everyone talking about shows like Game of Thrones,
House of Cards and Breaking Bad,
I haven’t seen any of them, so I can’t judge. Sometimes I just enjoy watching shows which
aren’t mainstream, I don’t care if nobody else watches it. So I’m here to tell you to give these 4 shows a try, you’ll be hooked before you know it!
Enjoy the last day of 2017 darlings! Netflix is waiting….

Happy binging!
Love,
Lina
